Production Support, Amdocs expert

VimpelCom is selling the GSM brand BeeLine. The assignment is to support the daily production (process) of the new Billing System, Amdocs Ensemble. Member of the OGS (On-Going Support) expert team, which is responsible for ALL daily operations of Vimpelcom. This production support includes the following modules: CSM/POS, Resource Management (SIM & NM), AR, Switch, MAF, MPS, Billing, In-collect, Out-collect and EOD. The job also includes nightshifts and training of the operators. I performed support for the following Amdocs modules: POS, MAF, MPS, CSM, A/R and Collection. Involvement in all operational issues and supporting the Helpdesk. During the migration and initial live stage of the Ensemble billing system, we handled all operations and trained the operators.

Other activities include:

  • Definition of global test-plan of all critical functionality in all modules, which must be tested (and proved to be working) during the final test before going in production

  • Train the operators to find and analyze problems, which are found during (batch) production. Teach the internal staff how to understand the file structure and data model and how to search the log-files for finding reasons for failure

  • Defining (operational) procedures in detailed worksheets and test-plans for all Ensemble modules. To support all operations an EOD guide document is created

  • Management (tracking) of all daily bugs found during production. Reporting of patches and fixes and retesting in UAT environment and production

  • Reporting daily to (higher) management of the current status of the system, errors and other problems found during production

  • Reporting daily high-level statistic information regarding the Vimpelcom organization and finance department, like amount of (new) subscribers, SIM's, payments, balance for (higher) management

  • Monitoring and coordinating with Amdocs to resolve performance bottlenecks

  • Training the internal staff to analyze incidents and Test-director tickets on priority, importance and ways to resolve them. Also decide which defects are to be sent to Amdocs development centre or can be corrected on site, according to the SLA

After the project finished I received following recommendation letters:

Pavel Korotkov - Application Manager

Vladimir Bakhmentyev - IT Director
